Brief Biography:
Harry Rossiter is an Associate Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and a Fellow of The American College of Sports Medicine. He received a PhD in Physiology from the University of London, and completed postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Diego. He is a member of the editorial boards of Journal of Applied Physiology and European Journal of Applied Physiology. He conducts clinical and translational research in respiratory and exercise physiology in the Rehabilitation Clinical Trials Center at the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

Research Mission:
Research in the Rehabilitation Clinical Trials Center labs at aims to better understand the mechanisms limiting exercise tolerance, with particular reference to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. We use a multi-scale experimental approach in humans, before and after interventions that aim to improve physical function. These incorporate: 1) Integrative physiologic testing of whole-body physical activity and exercise responses; 2) Isolated investigation of pulmonary, cardiovascular and neuromuscular function; 3) In vivo and in vitro investigation of cellular adaptation and bioenergetic control.
