Dr. Ji-Ann Lee is Staff Research Associate and molecular biologist in the Therapeutic Antibody Laboratory. Dr. Lee obtained his Ph.D. degree in the laboratory of Dr. Douglas Black in the department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at UCLA, where he studied the molecular mechanism of alternative splicing and discovered a novel mechanism for the slow modulation of splicing as cells adapt to external signals. He received postdoctoral training in Dr. Kelsey Martin's laboratory, where he investigated the molecular function of genes associated with autism and demonstrated the importance of RNA metabolism in disease.
